DIFFERENT VIEWS

Shoes in disarray
Dirty socks in unwanted places
Tie on the table
She cringes
He smiles sheepishly
Unaware of her pain
Her anger
Her disappointment
Irate
Naive
Unaware he was
Ignorant of the imaginary ants on her skin
The reaction to his disorganized lifestyle
She speaks
A cry unheard…with a voice inaudible
The silence was heated
A dangerous calm
Chaos within her being
A silly kiss hits her heated face
He really was unaware
She too was tired
Homely chores awaited her
But she needed to lay her head upon the soft pillows
To lay beside her mate
Her feet were itchy
But duty called
She sighed as she carried her fatigued being to the kitchen

Tired
Weary
Sweaty
Sleep deprived
He walks into his home
And straight to the bedroom
In search of solace
Craving for food and peace
Tie on the dressing table
Shoes littered here and there
Socks free in the air
Up! Up! Up they went!
And then like a plane descending the earth, they land safely on the floor
The thunderous sound of hunger in his belly
He was drained
A terrible day it was
Too many meetings and unwanted confrontations
On the bed he dumped his weight
Expecting food and love from his darling mate
She approaches him
A look of…
A look of…hmmmm
A look he couldn’t decode
He offers a smile
And blows a kiss
Just before he slips into the arms of darkness and peace
He was home alas!

MY WHITE SHOES OF HONOR

I blamed her for the dirt on my white shoes
My sparkling Shoes of Honor
I loved my shoes
They were my very best
They meant a lot to me
I cherished my white shoes
Comfort for my feet
A boat sailing on land
My white shoes treaded a lot of smooth roads
I faced a lot challenges with these shoes
So white
So pure
And then she caused me to dirty my shoes
I followed her lead
Oh my white shoes!
My Shoes of Honor and grace
I followed wrong
I did wrong
I flawed my innocence
I made a mistake
A mistake that left a stain
An unerasable stain
And now my white shoes are stained
I wept so hard
The tears dropped on my white shoes
But still my white shoes still had the stain
As I sobbed quietly
It hit me hard
I caused it all
She wasn’t at fault
I stepped into the mud
I soiled my own footwear
I caused the mistake
I am responsible for my own actions
I had an option
I could have said “No!”
I could have fled
Fleeing with my white shoes
Fleeing far from the pretty claws
I could have saved my Shoes of Honor
My shoes
My white shoes would have be unstained
Pure and white
Unblemished by a decision so wrong

THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE…WITH YOU

As I walk down the hallway
I can still hear you laugh
I can smell your perfume
I remember how you loved to dance in your shorts
Dancing and singing in an awkward voice
I can still remember how you loved to tiptoe and kiss me on my cheeks
It is all too real
I push the door leading to our living room
It creaks and opens awakening more memories
Memories and longings
I remember how we used to cuddle on the sofa
We would cuddle for hours
Talking and talking
Renewing our vows
Making plans
Laughing at jokes
Those were the best days of my life
The love I felt for you was real
You were the best thing that ever happened to me
I looked forward to a future with you
You made me feel so complete
Thoughts of us together hunts me every night
Questions torture my heart
Memories cover my entire being
I can't think straight anymore
I am going crazy thinking about you
I wonder what I did wrong
Where I went wrong
Why you left me for another
I can't comprehend it all
It is killing me
I was so foolishly in love that I didn’t see it
I was blinded by my own love for you
I couldn’t see the truth
You weren’t in love with me anymore
I no longer made you happy
I couldn’t give you kids
I bored you
You felt pity for me
You no longer loved me like you used to
The tears in my eyes feel so hot
I can no longer keep this house
It is time to sell it
I pray it wouldn’t bring the new owner so much sorrow
I pray that this house would bring him joy
That this house would always make the new owner smile
Cos it leaves me with no reason to smile
It's been four years now
And it is time to move on
I deserved to be happy
And I am ready to bury the past for good

THE GUARDIAN ANGEL

He staggers forward
The drops of sweat roll down his face
Imaginary drumbeats in his head
He was overworked and under stress
He is the guardian
But this man he protected was hyper
Hyper and energetic
Adrenaline high
Party soaked
Risk hungry
Sin-filled
Annoying and stubborn
Yet he protected him
An assignment of a lifetime
The lifespan of a mortal
A task of a lifetime
The job of a guardian
The job of a defender
A shield for this mortal being
He was what he was
He would work tirelessly
He would protect this human
No amount of stress could drain his divine fuel
He would keep this man safe
Safe until he was called back
Safe until he could give account to the one who created them both
He would be his "forever-shadow"
A task so divine
The task of a guardian angel

BEHIND THE GRAY CURTAINS

Broken figurines
Shattered plates
Chaos in the kitchen
Chaos in the living room
A corridor with a tale
A home so gray
Tears in her eyes
A teenager weeping
A young lady with scars
Too many scars…too many stories
Her skin…a storybook
Her scars…the chapters
One author
Four characters
A pretty damsel
The abused teenage
An abusive father
A blind brother
A wayward mother
A home in shambles
A weak foundation
Decaying pillars
A teenager with legs apart
The legs that welcomed a protector...her protector!
A protector who defiled his seed
Her brother
A blind brother
Helpless but knowing
Her screams stabbed his heart
Screams of abuse and pain
The screams intensified as the protector plunged deeper
Their protector
A heartless father!
A groan escapes the brother’s lips
He weeps helplessly
Banging on the locked door that separated him from her
Her screams turn to silence
Silence that brings a new darkness
He could feel the room darken thou he was sightless
He shivered as goose bumps appeared on his dark skin
The door closes
And then again the teenager cries
A cry of bitterness and spite
Her mother nowhere to be found
Out and away in search of a new lover
A lover with a purse full of gold coins
This was his world
His home
He was blind but he saw it all
He hated this home
But it was still his home
It was the only home he knew
Tears dripping down his chubby cheeks
He walks towards the heat
Towards the warmth from the blazing sun
Stretching his hands
In search of the warm wood
Alas he touched it
This was his favorite spot
This was his favorite chair
Despite the sadness surrounding him
He found joy sitting in this chair
Enjoying the sight before him
Staring as the gray curtains
The gray curtains of blindness!

UNAWARE

Cement
A cemented wall
Paint
A painted wall
Before the wall I stood
A picture
The picture
I stood before the picture
It was “The Picture”
Looking at the picture
Just me
Watching
Admiring
Appreciating
The picture before me
On the wall it was
In the hall
The hall of memories
I stood
I watched
I admired
Outside the window
It rained
Outside the building
A downpour
A stranger watched
Ignorant me
But he watched
Kind eyes
Stalking me
A stalker he was
Motives hidden
Hidden behind kind eyes
But I was unaware
Up in the sky
The plane flew
High…up
High…above
Unaware of the drama below
Turbulence and motion
Flying by unaware
The pilot so unaware
The stranger still present
Inside the plane
Discomfort and fear
Passengers so vigilant
Open-eyed
Turbulence! Turbulence!
Me before the picture
Me unaware
But he was aware
He is always aware
The one that sees us all
He sees each event
Every act
He is aware of our motives
Each thought
Each wish
Aware
So aware he is
He is aware
But we are unaware
So so unaware!
