My Muse is gone!

I miss my muse
Where has he gone?
Life is not the same without my muse
I’ve searched everywhere but I can’t find him
I’ve lifted furniture and scattered the sands on the earth
But my muse is nowhere in sight
My Muse is gone!

What a silly decision I took
I acted like such a child
And longed for the one thing I shouldn't have
Oh silly me!
I made him flee from me
Now I’m all alone and uninspired
With distaste in my mouth

My heart weeps for my muse
With eyes so wet I try to sketch
My brush glides on my board
But no inscriptions are seen
I’ve lost it all!
I caused it all!
Now I’m all alone without my muse

A GOD WITH LOVE SO TRUE

If I (can) speak in the tongues of men and (even) of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God’s love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. (1 Corinthians 13:1)

When I talk about the love I have for God
I speak various words in English
And sweet words in my mother tongue
My heart is filled with an indescribable longing
My eyes soften
I close my eyes
And then the tears spill down my face
My spirit becomes alert
Words are not enough to describe how I truly feel
His love excites my soul
And I sway in his love
His love is like a warm blanket around me
For his love is so pure and true

Many of us have a special way we feel
That unique feeling when we worship God
That feeling of security
That feeling of divine love
It settles on the meek like a sheet of cotton
And soothes all pains
His love surpasses all
It is patient
It is kind
It is divine
It is perfect
It is right
His love is pure and sweet
His love is ever true

Oh! If only we could comprehend
If only men could open their mortal eyes to His divine love
See how much He loves us all
We sin yet He loves us
The bling lifestyle of the world pulls us away from him
Yet He waits on us
How much He has given us…so so much
A supreme being that gave His only son to die...
...to die for us all
That is a God of integrity and honor
A Being of supremacy
The God of all creation
A God with love so true
He is My God

He Brings Peace

He Brings Peace
Peace Undeserving To Man
But Peace, It Is
Pure Peace
Divine Peace
Like Pure Cotton on the Skin, It Comforts U
Envelopes Your Soul and Yields A Sense Of Calm
And You Smile
And Look Up and Proclaim His Awesomeness
Cos You Know He Alone Can Bring Peace

His Presence Brings Peace
It Washes Away the Deepest Of Pains
It Searches Your Soul and Presents Your True Being
It Places You on a Majestic yet Unearthly Platform
And You Answer Your King
With A Heart of Humility and Truth
Knowing That He Alone Owns Your Being
And He Alone Do You Owe It All To
The Purest and Truest Being in Existence
The Presence That Brings Peace

His Voice Brings Peace
Peace Known to Only the Meek and Pure
But To the Dark Hearted
It Condemns or Destroys
A Voice That Commands Yet Consoles
A Voice That Judges Yet Forgives
A Voice That Thunders Yet Soothes the Soul
The Most Powerful Voice of Authority
The Voice We All Crave For
The Voice That Brings Peace

A Kingdom Of Peace
His Kingdom Of Love
A Kingdom Of Standards
Standards of Purity and Love
Only the Purest Immortals Can Ply the Golden Roads
The Purest With a Heart Filled With Love for Him
The Kingdom That Houses the Greatest Choirs
The Kingdom of the Most High
The Kingdom That Ends All Pains
The Kingdom Of Peace

IN HIS DIVINE BEAUTY

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen 1:1)

In his beauty he created us all
In his beauty he gave us life
In his beauty he forgives our sins
In his beauty he gives us another chance to love him
In his beauty he purifies our soul
In his beauty he provides our daily bread
In his beauty he heals our land
In his beauty he takes care of the creatures of the earth
In his beauty he causes the sun to shine and the moon to glow
In his beauty the stars light up the night sky
In his beauty he gives us a home for an after-life
In his beauty he gave us his only son
In his beauty he allowed us spit on his son and he paid the price for our salvation
In his beauty he watched his son hang on a cross for us all
In his divine beauty we are still ungrateful
But still his beauty remains
And he leaves his arms open to us all

Mrs. Lola

Children run across the hallway

In search of their classrooms

Friends hurriedly say hello and rush into their classrooms

Settling into their seats

They await their teachers

My name is Bola

And my math teacher is Mrs. Lola

She comes in every morning at 8 O’ clock

My friends and I don’t like her because she wears a stern face

With a voice so shrill

She beckons on pupils to rise

“Where is your homework?”, she squeals

Pupils present their homework

And Mrs. Lola frowns

A frown so ugly that it makes us shiver

“Bola!”, she squeals again

I rise and shiver

Every strand of hair on my skin electrifies

The unfriendly sight of my teacher triggers a tear

I gulp in fear

And then I croak, “Yes, Mrs Lola”

“Clean the chalkboard!”, she screams

As I walk towards the board my hand freezes

I try to get it to pick the duster

But it won’t budge

Mrs. Lola squeals again, “Wait are you waiting for!”

I begin to shake uncontrollably

And then I hear the giggling

And the murmuring

If I was a white kid

I’m certain I’d have turned pink

But my black skin remained unchanged

I begin to drift away

To a world of calm and peace

Suddenly my peaceful world becomes troubled

I hear loud thumps

And then I feel a horizontal flow of heat across my back

I open my eyes

And I see a furious and even uglier Mrs. Lola attempting a second lash

The ice in my hands suddenly melts away

My bladder suddenly empties as I escaped the lash

Then the whole class laughs out loud

I feel like a clown in a circus

And my audience seems very thrilled with my performance

I then begin to cry out loud

The shame and the pain Mrs. Lola was causing me was too much to bear

And like an angel in the mist of darkness

Miss Grace appears at the doorway with an expression of pity on her face

Her lovely afro hair surrounding her round face

“Mrs. Lola, you’re called”

Mrs. Lola turns with anger, “Who calls?”

“The Head Mistress”, Miss Grace replies

Mrs. Lola reluctantly drops her whip

She turns sternly at me and gives me a look

The “I’ll be back!” look

I gently wipe off the liquid trickling down my legs as she strolls out of the classroom

Miss. Grace walks towards me and stretches out her hand

I take her hand and walk out of the classroom with her

She bends and whispers something into my ears

“She isn’t coming back…she’s going for her sack letter”

And then she smiles with hope

I look at her in confusion

Collision of thoughts in my head

I try to comprehend the news

Is she for real?

Have my nightmares come to an end?

I suddenly experience a feeling

A feeling like an ice cube sliding down my back

A feeling of relief and joy

If this is true then “God be praised”

I walk hopefully with Miss. Grace

“Let’s get you cleaned up!”

She holds my right hand and smiles

And my head feels light in a pleasant way

I’m A Believer

I Believe
I Know There Is A Force Somewhere
A Force So Strong
A Force That Can Take Me To Great Heights
Heights So High
Heights So Strong

I Know I’ll Make It
I Know It Because I Feel It
I Feel It So Strong
I Feel It In My Heart
I Know It Because It’s Right

I Am That African Child That Would Excel
I Would Excel In All
I Would Shine
A Shine So Bright
With Light So Blinding

Close Your Eyes To My Blossom
My Blossom Would Be Unfriendly To My Haters
It Would Be Like Quinine So Bitter
Bitter But Strong
And Sweet To My Soul

I’m The One
The One They Talk About
I’ve Got A Strong Trunk At My Back
It Would Never Let Me Down
It’s The Buffer I’ve Always Had

I Know A Champion Lives In Me
It Lives Deep Within My Soul
And Would Emerge Like A Blooming Flower
I’ll Would Bloom!
Oh Yes! I Would

I Know All This
I’m Sure Of All This
I’m So Certain I Would Make It
I Can Taste It
Because I’m A Believer

Heartbreak

The heart trembles when one falls in-love
It trembles not just because of joy
But because it fears the worst

The worst that can come from heartbreak
It’s is a bitter feeling of rejection
It makes one feel like dirt

Regret and memories cloud your mind
And even the strongest fret
Oh, what a terrible terrible feeling!

My Mama warned me about this…
Even my Dada preached against it
“Falling in-love is dangerous …don’t be a victim!” He warned

If only I had listened
If only I had let the north wind blow my feelings away
This would never have happened

But now…
I’m left with nothingness and hurt
Hurt so painful that I weep

And so far from me is sleep
Oh this I caused myself
And now the price is mine to pay
