Moving On!

I’m out of my mind
I left my mind behind
I can’t think straight
Yet I can see straight
Wait for me
Don’t make me see me this way
Rather let me roll in the hay
You are like my past
I can barely see you
My mind is jumbled
The music in my head is jumbled
I feel strange
Yet I’m happy
Jolly
Crazy
Yoppy
Feel my heartbeat
Fear not!
I can feel it pound
It has healed
No wounds
I feel fine
No more pains
I’m whole
I can now roll
Stand where you are
Don’t feel pity for me
Stare at your mirror
Who do you see?
I’ll write the biography of the image in the mirror
Get on your boat
Sail to Alaska
Freeze but stay alive
I’m fine
I forgive you
I still love you
I’m just stronger
Stronger than when you left me
You seem so pathetic to me now
Yet I still love you
Who?
Yes you!
See me roll
Watch me glow
I’m just like the sun
Watch out Hon
I won’t be partial
I learnt the art
And it’s martial
I’m addicted to my own strength
My frame you bent
I’m straightened up now
I’ve seen the light
See you in my bright future
Don’t die please
I need you alive to see me shine
I’m like your favorite drama series on repeat
But the episodes just get better
I'm  moving on!

WATCHING THE NANNY

As I stood by the wallpapered wall
I watched her brush her silk hair
She was gentle
She was kind
She loosened every knot in the little girl’s dark curls
She sang her usual song
A song in a strange dialect
A song that lit the room
It made the little princess smile
I could feel the smile even though I couldn’t see her face
I wished I could touch her silk hair
Her silk mane that was just like mine
The hair that I trimmed a month ago
Just before I left her
The dark curls of my seed
I watch them from a distance
My immortal being felt sad
The pretty lady spoke kind words
Kind words that made my princess giggle
And then she lifted the mirror close to her spotless face
The sight of her well braided hair made her grin
And the long plaits she wiggled
The lady lifted her up in the air
A gesture she learned from me
And then she spun her around in her careful grip
My princess laughed
A laugh that made my heart cry
My lifeless being envied the lady who held my child
My princess wiggled her feet
The lady placed her on her well-made bed with fresh sheets
Everything in her room sparkled
The polished furniture glistened
Her Lego was well organized on the toy shelf
Barbie and Ken looked very happy on the book cabinet
I was pleased with what this sweet lady was doing for my princess
She was very kind to her
She was patient and loving
She never raised her voice at her
But correct her the same way I did
She learned well from me
Who knew a stranger could be kind to another
I was grateful to this lady who dwelled in my home
My spirit was now at peace
I could now complete my journey
I watched my daughter take a long deep breath
She was sleeping soundly
The lady dropped her favourite story book on the night table
Just few inches from where I stood
Unaware she was being watched
Ignorant of the presence of another being in the room
She turned on the bathroom light and turned off the bedroom light
Just like I used to
I hungered for those days of life as the lady closed the door behind her
I missed tucking in my little princess
It was time to leave
I could feel myself disappearing
I could feel the emptiness
I looked at my princess one last time
That was the sight I wanted to carry with me
My princess peacefully asleep in her soft bed

JUST A FRIEND SHE WAS

She had danced the dance
She had sang the song
She had done it all
She hovered around him like a bee
It seemed like he didn’t see her

She really tried her best
She had ignored the rest
She even became his best friend
They took walks together
But he never really saw her

She laughed at his silly jokes
She cried with him
And dodged his naughty pokes
She clad herself in beautiful clothes
But still he dashed her hopes

How was she to tell him?
She knew what she wanted
And by these thoughts she was hunted
But still she stayed
Unwavering her love and loyalty was

Her company was like a soft cushion
Comforting and motherly
She was patient and unchallenging
Respectful and simple
His life she made orderly

Just a whimper
And she would come running
Loyal and true to him she was
Her love could make one joyful
But still she was just a friend

He had eyes for another
Another who never cared
A beautiful damsel so fair
Hard to get and rare
A sweet challenge he loved

He felt so hurt
He shared his pain
And there she was again
In her arms he found sweet bliss
But just a friend she was

Staggering Home

I’m deaf
I can’t hear a thing
It’s silent
And then it’s quiet
Yet I hear it blare
My nerves are alert
My eyes are red
My hair wrecks
The stench of cigar and alcohol
I stink
My clothes are sweaty
The night was hectic
I can’t feel my legs
I’m still a bit shaky
I’m staggering home
I can see my gate
I know it is a gate
It looks so familiar
I can smell my flowers
The refreshing smell of the freshly grown grass
My face is so flushed
I just need the soft comfort of my bed
My tongue feels dry
I crave water
I stare at the gutter
I laugh and shake my swollen head
I stagger on
Ignoring the horns and lights
I turn the door knob
The smell of the ever familiar furniture
The enchanting environment of bliss
My home
My place of rest
I slam the door
Turn the lock
And slump on the soft rug
